In order to hep the development of our youth, we give them responsibilities and make them accountable. At Next Up, we have started making our youth “Teacher for a Day.” That’s right! We want to identify our students’ expertise and help them maximize their skills. Our first experiment was with our student Fernando Zuniga, who’s really creative at applying griptape on his boards. We asked if he would be willing to teach his techniques to us, and he was excited to do that. Next Up students were eager to learn this skill from Fernando, and on January 23rd, Fernando executed his job with confidence and ease, as if it was just another day at his “office.” The workshop was truly successful! Fernando said, “It was a great time working with my friends and teaching them something to express their creativity on their boards. Skateboarding is also a form of art that many people can enjoy.” Our skaters were very happy with their final pieces, and we think their work is worthy of showing off. Fernando, you did a great job, and you’ve made us very proud! Thank you!
