Street League Super Crown 2016

Next Up loaded a van and headed up to Los Angeles last week for our yearly field trip to the Street League Skateboarding Super Crown Championship. We arrived early, had lunch, and enjoyed a little skate session outside before the contest doors opened. In the right place at the right time, Next Up kids were lucky enough to greet Nyjah Huston and take a few photos before he headed off to practice. Our young skaters possess an impressive database of skateboarding knowledge, spotting various professional skaters and industry leaders in the crowd before even Vina and the other volunteers. It was rewarding to witness our participants experience SLS, such a fascinating element of contemporary skateboarding culture. To see their excitement and passion for the sport out in the real world makes everything we do at Next Up worth it. Congratulations to Shane O’neill and Lacey Baker for your wins and thank you for being an inspiration to skaters, young and old, everywhere.
