We had a long-awaited introduction to photography workshop today at the Success Lab! Luke Lutz, a skateboarder and photographer from Orange County, California, came out to Next Up’s headquarters to offer our students some tips of the trade. We learned about the basics of camera settings, composition, equipment, timing, lighting, and what to expect in real-life situations. Luke imparted valuable knowledge about perspective in photography and life – how do we look at our environment and portray a story in the most interesting way possible? It’s all about trial-and-error, being prepared, and having a willingness to improve! The kids got some hands-on experience at the skate park, taking photographs of each other while applying their newly acquired knowledge. Many of our participants have an strong interest in photography because of its relevance in the skate industry. The student with the best photograph from today, chosen by Luke, will be featured on the photographer’s Instagram and awarded with a brand new deck! Our friend also left us with some personal prints of his best skateboarding shots, which we will proudly display on our walls to give life to our beloved Lab. Thank you for an awesome day, Luke!
