Broken Decks Are Cool Workshop #3

Art workshops are some of the most popular activities for Next Up participants.

Annette Castellanos volunteered her time, wisdom and experience to teach the 3rd “Broken Decks Are Cool” workshop at our headquarters.

Once we prepped the room for the workshop with plastic covers for the tables, paint, paint brushes and broken decks – participants rushed into the art room to secure their spot at the tables. The workshop was so full, that we had to find three more pieces of broken decks to accommodate all the participants – it was a sight to see!

Annette coached the children on various painting methods and techniques, when the students then applied to create their own masterpiece. Many of the participants were surprised with their newfound creative abilities, and everyone had a blast. After the workshop was over, Annette reviewed the pieces and selected three students, awarding them with “Best Painting”:
