Based in Anaheim, we’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes in the power of skateboarding to change kids’ lives.
Our Story
In 2005, while still living in Brazil, Vinicius “Vina” Tinoco was inspired by a friend who ran a skateboarding program aimed at helping kids at a juvenile detention facility realize they could recover from their mistakes. When he moved to California the following year, he carried with him the belief that there are some life lessons best learned on a skateboard.
Determined to bring that same hope of a better life to kids in Anaheim, Vina founded Next Up Foundation in 2009 and began hosting skateboarding programs at a local skate park. Now, eight years later, we continue to serve a growing group of elementary and middle school kids through our mentorship, academic support, and wellness programs at our facility and skate park in Anaheim.
